There was joy all around for United's Scottish quartet, who helped their side advance past Czechia with a 3-2 home win, going through 5-2 winners on aggregate.

Newcastle's McGovern and McLauchlan were once again handed starts, and it was the forward who made the biggest impact in the 49th minute when she capitalised on a mistake at the back to put her country 4-2 ahead over the two legs.

It represents a solid break for Newcastle number nine, who got an assist in the first leg, before registering her sixth international goal on Tuesday night. She was later replaced by club teammate Thomas, while Gregory was an unused substitute.

McGovern and McLauchlan started Scotland’s 2-0 win against Lvice, with United’s third top scorer assisting Caroline Weir for the opening goal. Thomas came on in the 73rd minute for her first cap since October 2025, while Gregory was an unused sub.

Gemma Evans, Casi Gregson and Lois Joel

It was an historic night for Gregson, who made her Cymru debut at the Parc y Scarlets as she replaced Mared Griffiths, having played alongside her in the Wales youth set-up.

With the hosts ahead 4-0 on aggregate, Rhian Wilkinson turned to Gregson in the 86th minute and thrust her into her national team debut on home soil and helped see out an important 3-0 win for Wales.

This rounded off what has been a superb fortnight for the teenager who recently made her first-team debut with Newcastle, as well as making her first-team debut.

There was also another start for United centre-back Evans, with midfielder Joel getting just under 30 minutes off the bench.

Evans started and played 90 minutes as Wales won 1-0 away to Albania earlier in the break, thanks to an Ezmiralda Franja own goal. Joel came on in the 79th minute to help see out the game, while Gregson was an unused substitute.

Leanne Kiernan and Aoife Mannion

Following a huge away win last week, the Republic of Ireland merely had to manage the reverse leg at the SuperValu Pairc Ui Chaoimh, and they did that by adding another four goals to the aggregate scoreline.

Mannion once again started in a wing-back role, playing the opening 63 minutes and picking up another clean sheet, but Kiernan remained on the bench for the full match.

The Girls in Green had recorded an emphatic 8-0 win against Kazakhstan in their first-leg FIFA Women's World Cup qualifying match.

The ever-present Mannion started and played the full 90 minutes with the Republic of Ireland 5-0 ahead at the break, helped by Yulia Myasnikova being sent off after 33 minutes.

Kiernan was introduced at half time, with Carla Ward's side going on to score another four goals.

Hildur Antonsdóttir

After starting the commanding first-leg win away from home, Newcastle's all-action midfielder was afforded a rest on Tuesday as she was an unused substitute in Stelpurnar Okkar’s 5-0 victory and progressed to the next round of World Cup Qualifying.

Last Sunday’s derby day goalscorer, Antonsdóttir played 68 minutes for Iceland, who recorded an impressive 4-0 win away to Croatia.

A brace from Arna Eiríksdóttir coupled with goals from Glódis Viggósdóttir and Hlín Eiríksdóttir were enough to seal the win.

Charlotte Wardlaw

Wardlaw played another 90 minutes at left back for Scotland’s U23s as they were beaten 3-0 away from home by the Netherlands.

The 23-year-old started both of her country's fixtures at left back during the break, and will return to Tyneside ahead of back-to-back Subway Players Cup clashes.

Last week Scotland lost 2-0 at home to Germany, with goals from Luca Birkholz and Caroline Elsen.

Wardlaw started and played the full 90 minutes for the under-23s in their sole home clash.

Oona Sevenius

After being on the bench for Finland's first-leg victory over Serbia last week, the versatile forward came on before the hour mark in the second leg to make her 39th appearance for Helmarit.

They managed to repeat the scoreline from last Friday’s win and comfortably got a step closer to next summer's FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Sevenius had been an unused substitute at the Tammelan Stadion as her country ran out 3-1 winners.

Hanna Németh

Despite starting the difficult home leg against the Netherlands, the Newcastle centre back was an unused substitute in the reverse fixture as Magyarok lost 3-0, and were knocked out of World Cup qualifying.

Hungary were beaten 8-0 at home, with Németh playing the full match.

Kaitlyn Torpey

Joe Montemurro handed Torpey her second start of the international break as the Matildas breezed past Haiti, winning 7-1.

The left back couldn't build upon her goalscoring form for United with the Tillies, but she did get another 66 minutes in her legs.

Newcastle's number 18 was one of four outfield players to play the full 90 minutes in Australia's 4-2 loss against Germany last week.
