Everything you need to know ahead of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Gameweek 7.

Newcastle United have teamed up with Fantasy Football Scout to bring you Fantasy Premier League (FPL) hints, tips and advice throughout the 2026/27 season.

Scout will be offering their expertise every Gameweek, which could prove invaluable in helping you win your mini-leagues.

Best of Newcastle in Gameweek 6

Sven Botman (£5.0m) not only delivered on the defensive contribution front in Gameweek 6 but also chipped in at the other end of the pitch, scoring a superb goal from distance.

The Dutch centre-half emerged from the Coventry Building Society Arena with a healthy eight FPL points to his name.

It means he’s now registered a clean sheet, an attacking return and/or defensive contribution points in five of his six starts in 2026/27.

What’s more, Botman’s tally of eight defensive contribution points can only be bettered by one Premier League defender, namely Nottingham Forest’s Murillo (£5.5m).

Returning from injury, Nico Gonzalez (£5.5m) claimed the assist for Botman’s thunderbolt.

The fit-again midfielder collected two bonus points, too.

Spotlight on... Nico Gonzalez

It’s worth reiterating that Lewis Hall (£5.3m) and Harvey Barnes (£6.1m) remain Newcastle’s stand-out Fantasy buys.

The left-sided duo delivered a combined 17 and 21 points, respectively, in the Magpies’ last two home matches. Matthias Jaissle’s side are back on their own turf this weekend, with Aston Villa providing the opposition.

Having already devoted plenty of column inches to the in-form pair, though, we thought we’d give another squad member their 15 minutes of FPL fame.

That man is the aforementioned Nico Gonzalez, whose performance at Coventry merits more assessment.

The most eye-catching stat was the Argentine midfielder’s total of six chances created, which was higher than any other Premier League player managed in Gameweek 6.

It means he’s now got the best minutes-per-chance-created average (28) of any Newcastle player in 2026/27.

Goals aren’t likely to arrive, as he’s not had a single shot all campaign. But with his excellent range of passing, Gonzalez should chip in with assists throughout the season.

FPL transfer market

Away from Newcastle, the Fantasy love affair with Brighton players continues.

Maxim De Cuyper (£5.1m) and Pascal Gross (£6.0m), FPL’s joint top-scoring players, are also the two most-bought individuals of Gameweek 7.

Their upcoming A23 derby with Crystal Palace gives them a chance to prolong their superb form, with the Eagles ranked 20th for expected goals conceded (xGC, 12.80) in 2026/27.

We wouldn’t deter any Fantasy manager from purchasing the Albion pair, although two bits of advice would be to a) wait until after the Seagulls’ Thursday night clash with Kauno Zalgiris to make sure no injuries are picked up and b) be aware that two trickier matches, away at Liverpool and Manchester City, follow in Gameweeks 8 and 9. After the 3-0 win over Arsenal, of course, Brighton players may fear no one.

The same ‘watch and wait’ advice extends to Rayan Cherki (£7.9m), FPL’s fourth most-bought player of the upcoming Gameweek. The midfielder and Manchester City face Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night, so it’ll be worth monitoring that tie before committing to the free-scoring Frenchman. The Ipswich Town match also follows less than 72 hours after PSG’s visit, so minutes could be managed.

There are no such qualms about Joao Pedro (£7.8m) and Morgan Rogers (£7.9m), who complete the top five transfer targets list. Their Chelsea side are not involved in European competition this season, so there are no worries about midweek knocks and fatigue.
